Glass Splashbacks FAQ

 FAQ Glass Splashback Installation

Q: The image is portrait or square, and my space is landscape. How will this work?

A: We can help with design. In the case of an image that has a plain background we can extend this background to make the perfect fit. In the case of a square image, we can create a border to the colour of your choice, again to make the perfect fit. If you have chosen a repeat design, (ie from the Patterns and Motifs Collection) we can duplicate the image to create a ‘tile’ effect. Any questions at all, we are happy to discuss all design options email us with your ideas info@theartehome.com

Q: Can I install the splashback myself?

A: Absolutely yes! Installing your splashback using both methods of pre-drilled holes or the high strength glue option, are both straight forward for anyone who is confident with DIY. We would recommend that if you have ordered one of the large splashbacks this would definitely require 2 people to handle the glass. Your splashback will be delivered with an Instruction leaflet however, if you are unsure and would like us to fit it for you, we offer an installation service to anywhere within a 60 mile radius of Grantham NG32. As further support, we are also happy to talk to you over the phone and give you advice. You may also find that it would help if you take a photo of the space and email it to us at info@theartehome.com and we will only be too happy to give you some pointers.

Q: How do I measure correctly?

A: The first measurement you need to check is the width. Measure at the bottom of the space across the width and same at the top. This is pretty important if you’re fitting the splashback into a recess, as most wall’s are not perfectly straight. Then measure your desired height of how far up you would like the splashback to go. Any questions, just drop us an email info@theartehome.com

Q: Can I install the splashback on top of existing tiles?

A: For a perfect result, we would recommend that you apply the splashback to a smooth surface, so no, it’s not advisable to fix on top of tiles, you would need to remove the tiles and prepare the wall. If you have any concerns about the surface you would like to apply the splashback to, take a photo of the space and email it to us at info@theartehome.comand we will only be too happy to give you further advice.

Q: Should I get pre-drilled holes or high strength adhesive?

A: Either are perfectly suitable, it’s entirely down to your personal preference. If you’re not confident with a drill, then the glue option may be for you.

Q: What other images are available to me?

A: We will be updating our collection of vintage art, illustrations and images on a regular basis. Subscribe to our newsletter and you will be the first to discover when new art is available.

Q: I have a fixed flue on the back wall for my AGA, can the splashback be installed?

A: You may have to have the flue removed for installation. Most flues are cemented into the ceiling above, so unless the glass can slide behind whilst leaving a gap and the flue not touching the glass, then removal of your flue will be your only option here. If you can arrange for the flue to be temporarily removed for the installation, then this would be perfect. The thickness of the glass is 6mm, which will also need to be considered. If in doubt send us a photograph and get in contact at info@theartehome.com

Q: I have ordered a large splashback, will I need someone to help me off load at home?

A: Yes. The large splashbacks are delivered on a pallet. The driver will get the pallet as close as possible to your door, depending on the access to the property. We would then recommend that 2 people carry the splashback in to the home. It’s not especially heavy, just awkward for 1 person to manage on their own.
